About WinTroop
The practice ground for everyday file skills.
WinTroop is a small Windows program that gives students real file and folder tasks, checks the real result, and says right or wrong on the spot. This website is where you meet it, watch it, and get your key.
So, what is WinTroop?
Windows Explorer is the window where you find, open, copy, rename and delete your files and folders. Everyone who uses a Windows computer uses it, and computer exams love to ask about it.
WinTroop gives you a task, such as “Create a folder named Reports”. You do it in a real Explorer window. Press Save, and WinTroop looks at the actual files and folders on the computer and tells you: right, or wrong and why.
Think of a driving school’s practice ground: a real car, a real steering wheel, and a safe place to make mistakes. WinTroop is that, for files and folders.
Knowing is easy. Doing it under pressure is hard.
For students
Most students can say what “cut and paste” means. Then the exam starts, the clock ticks, and their hands freeze. Doing a task again and again is what builds calm, quick hands.
For teachers
Checking every student’s practical by hand takes hours. WinTroop does the checking, so your time goes into teaching, not marking.
How to use WinTroop
Install and activate
Run the installer on a Windows 10 or 11 PC and enter your activation key. You need the internet only this once.
Practise task by task
Read the task, do it in Explorer, press Save. Wrong? WinTroop tells you why, so you can fix it and go again.
Take the exam
When you feel ready, start Exam Mode: 24 randomised, timed questions. Results are saved in a file you can open in Excel.
Tip: a little every day beats a lot in one night. Ten minutes of practice a day is plenty.

Why I built WinTroop
I’m Mohandas Kasare, a computer trainer in Mumbai. WinTroop began while I was teaching computers as a home tutor.
I kept noticing the same thing. Many of my students could not manage their files and folders. Some could not even tell a file from a folder.
The reason is simple: In school computer lessons, Windows Explorer, also called File Explorer, is rarely taught as a serious topic.
So I built a way to practise it for real, with instant feedback. The first people to use it were my own home-tuition students.
